Based on the direction of vibration, waves can be divided into two types, namely longitudinal waves and transverse waves. Each wave has its own clarification and examples. The following is an example of a transverse wave and an example of a longitudinal wave.
A transverse wave is a type of wave that has a direction of vibration and a direction of wave propagation that is perpendicular to each other. Usually the periodic waves are shown with pictures of hills and valleys. This wave is polarized in one direction, so that the direction of vibration in the plane with the direction of propagation is perpendicular to each other. Here are some examples of transverse waves:
- Electromagnetic waves or light waves.
- Waves in water ripples.
- Wave of love.
- Rope Wave.
- S seismic waves.
- Rayleigh waves, and so on.
Longitudinal wave is a type of wave that has a vibration direction with the direction of wave propagation in the same direction and has the same or opposite movement of the wave medium and wave propagation. Based on the wave procedure, the longitudinal wave consists of a compression wave and a compression wave.
