One of the drawbacks of flashing ROM via Mi flashtool is that all applications that have been installed on xiaomi smartphones will be deleted, including some of the settings that you have made in this way. As a result, after flashing the ROM via Mi Flashtool, your Xiaomi smartphone will return empty and only the default application will be installed. It’s very similar to when you first bought the Xiaomi cellphone, including the formatted internal memory as well.

Even though there is an option to flash ROM without deleting the internal memory in Mi Flashtool, in fact, the internal memory will still be formatted. the admin also doesn’t know for sure whether this is a bug from mi flashtool or what, what is certain is based on admin’s experience like that. Unless you flash the ROM via TWRP Recovery, all data in the internal memory will be safe, including the applications and settings that you have installed, namely by backing up the ROM, or backing up the app via Titanium backup. Unfortunately, to use this Titanium Backup, your Xiaomi smartphone must be rooted first. So what about xiaomi smartphone users who are still not rooted and haven’t even unlocked the bootloader? you still can, but in a different way, in full, just follow the tutorial below:

Material:
– Original Xiaomi USB cable

The method:
1. Enter your xiaomi settings
2. Select additional options or additional settings
3. Proceed blindly select backup & reset
4. Select Local backup
5. Press the backup button
6. Please specify whether you want to back up the system and applications or just one. If so, please continue to press the backup button
7. The backup process will run, the length of the process depends on how many applications and settings you have made before
8. If so, please flash the ROM

Notes:
– For xiaomi smartphones that have external storage facilities aka MicroSD, the backup files are on MicroSD/Miui/Backup, while for those who don’t have external storage they are on Internal memory/Miui/backup
– For those of you who are using an MI series smartphone and of course you don’t have a micro SD, it’s a good idea to move the backup file to your computer first and if you’ve flashed the ROM, please move it again to the internal memory
– To restore the backup file, please repeat the steps above, but this time select the previous backup file then select restore/restore
– Admin has tested this tutorial on MIUI 7 and MIUI 8 Redmi Note 3 PRO and the results run perfectly

In fact, the system and application backup feature is a built-in feature that has been pinned by Xiaomi. It’s just that this feature is not so optimally used. Hopefully this tutorial can maximize existing Miui features. If something is not understood, please ask via the comments column. don’t forget to +1, like and share this tutorial.
